There are more thunderstorms forecast for Brandon today (June 30), but Environment Canada meteorologist Brad Vrolijk says we should NOT see a repeat of Sunday’s storms which dumped a record amount of rain on the city.
“So, instead of these stationary thunderstorms, that we saw bring the torrential rainfall to western Manitoba, this time they’ll be pushing off to the east at a fairly good clip through the might.” Vorlijk says rainfall amounts this afternoon and overnight could be in the 50 mm range, with a chance of large hail and damaging winds.
He says Canada Day on Wednesday will start out with some showers “but hopefully by the afternoon, we’ll see some clearing pushing in from the southwest, and a faily nice end to the day.”
Vrolick says the rest of the week should be sunny, but not as hot. The normal high for this time of year is 24.
