PhysioFirst’s 16th Annual Food First Food Drive in support of Brandon’s Samaritan House takes place this weekend, but will operate a bit differently due to COVID-19.
Spokesperson, Doug Treloar, says typically plastic bags are handed out around the city for donors to fill with non-perishable food. Then volunteers would go around the city to picking them up, however, given the current public health orders they aren’t able to do that, “This year we are asking Brandon residents to deliver their own bags of food directly to the Samaritan House Food Bank.”
The time is right to lend a helping out, “Their in quite a critical position right now with food stocks, as their supply has been depeleted somewhat,” added Treloar.
The fundraiser, which usually averages between 8,000 to 10,000 pounds of food, will be a drive thru event, running this Saturday, June 12, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
