On April 4, 2023, at approximately 2:15 pm, Snow Lake RCMP received a report of a body having been found outside a business, located on Lakeshore Drive, in Snow Lake.
Officers attended and located the body of a 44-year-old male, from Thompson, lying in the snow.
The cause of death has yet to be determined, but it is believed he had been outside for a period of time, where the temperature had dropped to a low of -24C.
Snow Lake RCMP, along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, continue to investigate.

On April 4, 2023, at approximately 4:50 am, Bloodvein RCMP received a report of a structure fire in a local residence in Bloodvein First Nation. It was believed that someone was still inside the home. Officers attended immediately and worked with community members to extinguish the fire.
Once the smoke in the home had dissipated, officers entered the residence and located the 49-year-old male resident of the home deceased. It appears the male had been home alone when the fire started.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner and RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended the scene and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
