And two Westman rural municipalities declare States of Local Emergency

Brandon public works crews continue the clean-up after Sunday's storm.

They're clearing catch basins, pumping out standing water and raking up debris.

The city reminds you, if you've been helping out, debris can go in your garbage or green bins - not back into the street where it can end up back in the storm drains.

If you need empty sandbags and access to sand - that's available at the Civic Services Complex (900 Richmond Avenue East) on a first-come, first-served, fill-your-own-bags basis.

Calls for service from Public Works or Parks and Recreation Services staff can be directed to 204-729-2285.

Two rural municipalities in Westman have declared local States of Emergency.

Oakview declared one yesterday to help it deal with the aftermath of the weekend's storm.

The R-M includes Rapid City - where a tornado touched down just southeast of the community destroying several structures and grain bins - and knocking down power poles and trees.

And the municipality of Cornwallis also declared a State of Emergency due to overland flooding.
