Two Manitoba residents are celebrating separate million-dollar wins.
Winnipeg’s Jim Konowalchuk won $1 million on the February 16th LOTTO 6/49 draw; and Thompson’s Conrad Hykawy took home the February 18th $1 million WESTERN MAX prize.

Jim Konowalchuk purchased his winning ticket at the Norman Park Car Wash located at 2146 St. Mary’s Road in Winnipeg. He checked his ticket online and couldn’t believe his eyes as he matched each digit of the Guaranteed Prize draw number: 38109237-01. “After I discovered what I had won, I ran upstairs to tell my wife,” He remembered while claiming his prize. “I said, ‘Get up! We won a million dollars!’”
He said he and his wife will take some time deciding what to do with their winnings. “Before we thought we might sell the house and buy a condo,” said Konowlchuk. “Now we are going to sit on it and try to absorb everything.”
“This win couldn’t have happened at a better time,” he continued. “We can help out the children and not have to worry about money anymore.”

Conrad Hykawy got some life-changing news on a recent trip to Winnipeg – it turned out the WESTERN MAX ticket he had with him matched all seven numbers on the February 18th draw: 1, 10, 20, 21, 30, 35, and 46. Hykawy returned home with a cool million dollars.
The Thompson winner purchased his ticket from Northway Gas and Convenience, located at 50 Selkirk Street in Thompson and checked his ticket on a recent trip to Winnipeg. “I had to scan it a few times. I couldn’t see the number of zeros,” Hykawy recalled using a self-checker at the store. He initially thought he had won maybe $100,000 but stayed silent about his windfall. “I didn’t say anything for about a day and a half,” he said, “I don’t want people to get too excited.”
When Hykawy finally decided to call WCLC to confirm his win, he made sure he was sitting down, which turned out to be a good idea. “They told me I won a million,” he laughed “I couldn’t believe it!”
Hykawy said that once it’s safer to travel, he’d like to take a trip to Cuba. Until he can make that trip, Thompson’s newest millionaire plans on purchasing himself a new truck.
