On June 16, 2023, at 6:25 pm, Virden RCMP received a report of a 10-year-old boy having been assaulted on Assiniboine Street, near Joe Dandy’s Drive-In and the Old Oak Wood School, located in Oak Lake.
Police say an unknown male suspect ran at and forcefully pushed the child off of his bike before grabbing at his pants and dragging him onto the road. The suspect then began yelling at the child and it is believed he may have been trying to steal money from him. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
The suspect is described as being Indigenous in appearance, approximately 6’0 tall, wearing a blue sweater, black pants, and having a beard. The suspect is believed to be in his early 20’s.
The 10-year-old was not physically injured.
