Warriors score 5 unanswered goals to drop Wheat Kings 5-1 last Friday

The Wheat Kings didn’t waste any time getting on the scoresheet with Nolan Ritchie hugging the puck along the end boards making a no look pass in the slot finding Calder Anderson to make it 1-0 Wheat Kings. The goal from Anderson would be his 11th of the year and 6th point against his former team this season.

In the 2nd period the Warriors would even things up on the powerplay where Martin Rysavy fired a shot which would be stopped by Carson Bjarnason, but the rebound would go top corner off the stick of Harper Lolacher. The Warriors goal would be scored with only 1 second remaining in the powerplay. It would be the 5th goal the Wheat Kings allowed on the powerplay against the Warriors in their last 3 games.

Things fell apart in the third period with the Warriors scoring four goals. Atley Calvert scored off a deflection and in to give the Warriors their first lead of the game 7:36 into the period. Then Ryder Korczak scored a pair of goals 59 seconds apart to give the Warriors a commanding 4-1 lead with 6 minutes to go in regulation. Harper Lolacher would add a late goal giving the Warriors a 5-1 lead and the victory.

The Wheat Kings return home to host the Saskatoon Blades Tuesday, Jan 31. Puck drop at 7:00 pm at Westoba Place. It’s also Dakota Truth & Reconciliation Night where the Wheat Kings will wear Orange jerseys during warm up.
