The Wheat Kings travel to Moose Jaw to take on the Warriors tonight (Mar 1).
Coming in to tonight's game - the Wheat Kings dropped two games to the Regina Pats. Last Friday (Feb 24), the Pats stole one inside a packed Westoba Place with the Wheat Kings putting 47 shots on Drew Sim only for him to surrender 3 goals. Connor Bedard would score the game winning goal with only 1:55 remaining in the 3rd period allowing the Pats to win 4-3 in hostile territory. The following night (Feb 25) the Wheat Kings lost 6-3 in Regina. It was a game the Wheat Kings controlled for most of it heading into the 2nd period with a 3-1 lead, but penalty trouble gave the Pats life scoring a pair in the 2nd period and then adding a late 2nd period goal from Alexander Suzdalev giving the Pats a 4-3 lead after 40. Alex Suzdalev would put the game to bed scoring his first career hat trick and Connor Bedard would add the empty net goal giving the Pats a 6-3 win.
The Wheat Kings and Warriors are meeting for the 6th time this season. The Warriors lead the season series 3-2 after the Wheat Kings had an early 2-0 lead up to December 31st. Last time these two clubs met was back on January 27th, it was a 5-1 victory for the Warriors. In that specific game it was the Wheat Kings who got off to a hot start with Calder Anderson getting on the board 83 seconds into the game but the Warriors took over the remainder of the way scoring 5 unanswered.
