The YWCA Brandon’s ‘Women of Distinction Gala’ is being planned for September 9th after it was cancelled in 2020 because of COVID.
They’ll hold the 34th annual event on the Keystone Centre grounds, and applications are now open for award nominees. Categories include: agriculture, arts/culture/heritage, business leadership/entrepreneurship, community leadership/social action, education/mentorship, healthy living/recreation/wellness, science/technology/trade, lifetime achievement, young women of distinction (18-25 years) and young trailblazer (17 and under).

The awards have been held since 1985 to honor women of the Brandon, Westman, and Parkland regions. This prestigious award recognizes women for their individual achievements, outstanding presence as role models to other women and girls, and their significant contributions to the well-being of the community at large.
The annual ‘Women of Distinction Gala’ gala is also a fundraiser for the Westman Women’s Shelter and Meredith Place Transitional Shelter.
