For the last 5 Years I’ve been crawling out of Bed to come to work in the Q Studios. When Steve Antaya suggested that I come on board with Bill Turners retirement, I thought it was the craziest idea I’d ever heard. I mean – that’s like being in the Band that plays AFTER the Rolling Stones. It was going to be tough, both on me and the listeners. While I have a tremendous respect and affection for Bill – I’m not him.
But Steve thought it was a Good Idea, and he’s never been wrong before. Over the first few years I worked with some GREAT Personalities. RJ Lilley, Will Streilein, Frank McGuire… but I didn’t find the right combination until Steve put LD and me together.
Suddenly work was FUN. We had a Friendship we could build upon and I found someone who could challenge our Morning slot. Someone who had a keen understanding not only of the Country Music Genre but of the Communities it served.
So, as you might have guessed, I’m heading out. Change doesn’t always happen when you expect it. 2020 has clearly demonstrated that.
The Coffee Crew will wrap up its last show heading into the Christmas Break. I’ll have three more shows on Q next week then Leanne will be the NEW morning host on CKLQ, on the newly re-named and branded Q Country Morning Show. Leanne’s NEW show will launch Monday January 11th .
I can’t think of anyone more deserving. LD is one of the most completely genuine, smart, tough, funny People I know.
I’d like to thank Tyler Glen for starting me on this path. Steve Antaya for believing in me and of course the Listeners on Q for welcoming me in 5 years ago. You’ve taught me a lot and I’ve enjoyed the ride. Be Good To Yourselves, and each Other. – and for SOME of you… I might see you on 94.7 Star Fm.
