Harry and I were chatting this morning about various aspects of house cleaning and that got me thinking about chores I was required to do when I was a kid. I had to make my bed, I had to tidy up any mess I made, I “helped” my Mom with other cleaning duties. The chore I hated the most though was having to wash the supper dishes with my brother. We fought constantly until my Mom got fed up and told us if we didn’t quit fighting she was going to take ALL the dishes out of the cupboard and we would be washing them too. She had a LOT of dishes so this tactic usually worked. I was reading an article referring to a survey done that shows a percentage of parents actually pawn the gross jobs they hate doing on to their kids.
A Cinch Homes Services poll shows that 1-in-3 parents do just that! Number one of that nasty list is cleaning the toilet. What else made the cut?
- Folding laundry
- Cleaning the oven
- Hand washing dishes
- Ironing
- Cleaning out the fridge
- Cleaning up after pets
